Meeting with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications

Mr. CHHEAV Narath, Managing Director ING LAW and CoGen Consulting Group, EuroCham Board Member and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee attended the meeting with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications on October 25, 2023.

The delegation then had a meeting with H.E. Chea Vandeth, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, to talk about digitalization, e-commerce, cross-border trade, and mobile phone usage. In order to optimize services, a platform for safe, easy, and secure data sharing between government and business, as well as between individuals, is being developed.

The limited ability of current 3G and 4G networks to manage the 33GB on average that users in Cambodia will consume each month in 2022 was one of the concerns mentioned; 5G investment was suggested as a possible remedy. Regarding the populace, suggestions were made to teach digital literacy in schools from an early age and provide educational incentives like scholarships in order to close the technical skills gap. Increasing e-commerce protocols and standards for online pharmaceutical sales were potential sources of income.
